DMCA & Copyright Policy

Stashr respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects the same from everyone who uses the service. We honour valid takedown notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and applicable copyright law, and we remove infringing files quickly once a valid notice reaches us.

1. Overview

Stashr is an anonymous file-sharing service, and we do not, and realistically cannot, pre-screen everything our users upload. We rely on rights holders to tell us when something on Stashr infringes their copyright. When you send us a valid notice, we take it seriously and act on it promptly.

Because Stashr is operated from the Netherlands, we also handle notices in line with EU law and the EU Digital Services Act. The process below follows the familiar DMCA structure so that rights holders anywhere can reach us the same way.

2. Before You File

The single most useful thing you can give us is the exact Stashr share link to the file (for example s.stashr.wtf/... or the direct file link). That link is how we locate and disable the specific content, a general description of the work alone is not enough for us to find it.

Please also note that some files are uploaded with client-side encryption. We cannot read the contents of those files, but we can still disable access to the share link you identify.

3. Filing a Takedown Notice

To be effective, your copyright takedown notice needs to include all of the following:

1. The work being infringed: a clear description of the copyrighted work, or a link to it, so we understand what is being claimed.
2. The infringing material: the specific Stashr share link(s) or file link(s) where the material is located, so we can act on the exact content.
3. Your contact details: your full name, email address, and a mailing address and phone number where we (or the uploader, if a dispute arises) can reach you.
4. A good-faith statement: a statement that you believe in good faith that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
5. An accuracy statement: a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that, under penalty of perjury, you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
6. Your signature: your physical or electronic signature (or that of the person authorised to act for the owner).

4. How to Submit a Notice

Send your complete takedown notice to our designated contact for copyright matters:

• Subject line: DMCA Takedown Request

Using that subject line helps us route your notice correctly and respond faster.

5. How We Respond

When we receive a notice, we:

1. Review it for completeness and validity.
2. Disable access to, or remove, the identified material.
3. Notify the user who uploaded it, where that user is identifiable.
4. Confirm back to you the action we have taken.

We aim to process valid takedown requests within 24–48 hours of receipt. Incomplete notices may take longer, as we may need to come back to you for missing details.

6. Counter-Notification

If you uploaded content that was removed and you believe that was a mistake, for example, the material is yours, is licensed to you, or is otherwise lawful, you may send a counter-notification. A valid counter-notification should include:

• Your physical or electronic signature.
• Identification of the material that was removed and the share link where it appeared before removal.
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of a mistake or misidentification.
• Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of a competent court where the matter can be resolved.

Send counter-notifications to the same address: abuse@stashr.wtf with the subject line DMCA Counter-Notification. If we receive a valid counter-notice, we may forward it to the party who filed the original complaint.

7. Repeat Infringers

We maintain a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers. Users who repeatedly upload infringing material may have their access permanently revoked and their account suspended, in line with our Terms of Service.

8. Misuse of This Process

Submitting a takedown notice is a legal statement. Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, can expose you to liability for damages. Please only file a notice if you genuinely hold the rights or are authorised to act for the rights holder.
