By using Stashr, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before uploading, sharing, or sending files directly to another device, they set out what you can and can't do with the service, and the limits of our responsibility.
By accessing and using Stashr ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement. If you do not agree to these Terms of Service, please do not use the Service.
Stashr is a free file sharing service that offers two independent ways to send a file: hosted sharing through a link, and a direct transfer between two devices. The Service provides:
When you upload a file, we store it on our infrastructure and make it reachable through a sharing link. Unless a provision states otherwise, the rest of these Terms describes hosted file sharing.
P2P Transfer pairs two devices using a six-digit code and sends the file straight from one browser to the other over an encrypted connection. This works fundamentally differently from a hosted upload:
You remain fully responsible for whatever you send through P2P Transfer. The restrictions in these Terms, in particular Section 6, apply to peer-to-peer transfers exactly as they apply to hosted files, even though we are unable to inspect or moderate their contents. Note also that establishing a direct connection reveals each device's network address to the other, so only pair with a party you trust.
You agree to use Stashr only for lawful purposes. You are prohibited from uploading, sharing, or distributing:
You retain all ownership rights to the files you upload. By uploading files to Stashr, you grant us a limited license to store and serve your files for the purpose of providing the Service.
You are solely responsible for the content you upload and share. We are not responsible for user-uploaded content and do not actively monitor uploads. However, we reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms.
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.
We collect minimal metadata including:
Peer-to-peer transfers generate none of this file metadata, since the file never reaches us. We temporarily process only what is needed to pair the two devices, which is set out in Section 3 of our Privacy Policy.
To ensure fair usage and prevent abuse, we implement the following rate limits per IP address:
Files uploaded to Stashr are stored based on your expiration settings:
P2P Transfer relies on a direct connection between the two devices, which cannot always be established:
You may not, whether through hosted file sharing or peer-to-peer transfer:
We reserve the right to remove any content that:
This power extends to hosted files. Peer-to-peer transfers travel directly between two devices and are never held by us, so there is no copy for us to take down. In those cases we can act only on the pairing infrastructure, for example by blocking abusive access to it.
We may temporarily or permanently ban IP addresses that:
If you encounter content that violates these Terms, please report it to us at our contact page. Include the file URL and a description of the violation. Peer-to-peer transfers have no URL and leave no copy with us, so we cannot investigate their contents; if someone is misusing the feature against you, tell us what happened and, where a crime may have been committed, contact your local law enforcement.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stashr shall not be liable for:
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Stashr, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
We respect intellectual property rights and act on valid copyright takedown notices. If you believe your copyrighted work has been shared through Stashr without authorization, please review our DMCA & Copyright Policy, which sets out exactly what a valid notice must contain and how to submit it. In short, an effective notice identifies the work, includes the exact Stashr share link, provides your contact details, and includes good-faith and accuracy statements together with your signature.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Stashr operates, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
